How the puppy weight predictor works
This predictor uses growth milestone data from Salt et al. (2017), published in Veterinary Record, which tracked the weight development of dogs across five size categories from birth to adulthood. By comparing your puppy's current weight against the expected growth percentage for their age and size category, we estimate their adult weight range.
Factors that affect adult weight
Genetics play the largest role, but nutrition, neutering status, and overall health also influence growth rate. Puppies fed excessive calories during rapid growth phases may exceed their genetic weight potential, while underfed puppies may not reach it. Large and giant breeds grow more slowly than toy and small breeds, reaching full size at 18–24 months rather than 10–12 months.

Bulldog Health & Weight Management
Bulldogs are among the most obesity-prone breeds. Their brachycephalic (flat-faced) anatomy already makes breathing difficult, and excess weight compounds this problem significantly. Even 1–2 kg of extra weight can worsen breathing issues, joint pain, and heat intolerance. Bulldogs are also prone to skin fold infections — excess body fat creates deeper folds that trap moisture and bacteria.
Exercise: Short, frequent walks (10–15 minutes, 2–3x daily) are better than long walks. Avoid exercise in hot weather — Bulldogs overheat easily and can suffer heatstroke within minutes. Swimming is not recommended due to their heavy front end and breathing difficulties.
Feeding tips: Measure food precisely. Bulldogs will eat far more than they need if allowed. Split meals into 2–3 smaller portions to prevent bloat. Avoid high-fat treats. Choose a breed-specific formula designed for brachycephalic dogs or small-breed kibble with controlled calories.
Keeping your Bulldog at an ideal weight of 40–55 lbs (18–25 kg) is one of the most important things you can do for their long-term health. Use PawScale's calorie calculator for Bulldogs to stay on track, check body condition with our BCS tool, and follow the feeding guide for safe portion sizes.
